Description
LV Automotive dual wall heat shrink is a heavy-duty, adhesive-lined polyolefin tube for sealing and insulating electrical connections. This 4.8 mm black size comes as 10 m of tube in a lockable dispenser box, so you can cut exactly the length you need and keep the rest clean and protected.
When heated, the tube shrinks at a 3:1 ratio, from 4.8 mm down to approximately 1.6 mm internal diameter. At the same time the inner adhesive layer melts and flows into the joint, bonding to the wire insulation and terminal to form a tough, moisture-resistant seal. That makes it well suited to small-gauge wire joins, sensor leads and crimped terminals on vehicles, trailers, boats and machinery.
The tube is flame retardant and self-extinguishing, with a 600 V breakdown voltage and an operating range of -55°C to 125°C. Choose a size whose expanded diameter slides easily over the joint and whose recovered diameter is smaller than the wire, then shrink it evenly with a heat gun, working from the centre out. Black is the usual choice for negative (−) and general-purpose leads.
