Battery Master Switches
Showing all 33 results
Battery master switches isolate the battery from a vehicle or machine’s electrical system, preventing tampering, theft, battery drain and electrical fires whenever equipment is parked, serviced or left unattended. Alna stocks the Ionnic and Cole Hersee ranges for 6V to 48V systems: fixed handle, L handle, T handle, key-operated and marine switches, single and double pole, from 100A to 500A continuous.
Ionnic’s Australian-made battery lockout kits suit the 2026 Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger and Ranger Super Duty, earlier HiLux, LandCruiser 70 and Prado models, with universal kits and jump-start receptacles for any vehicle. Lockout brackets, mounting brackets and extension studs complete the range, and every listing includes a datasheet.
Narrow the range with the filters below.
Choosing a battery master switch
Continuous rating
Pick a switch rated at or above the continuous current of the circuit it isolates. Starting current is short and is covered by the switch’s intermittent rating on the datasheet.
Single or double pole
Single pole switches break one cable, usually the negative. Double pole switches break two circuits at once, such as positive and negative, or two batteries.
Handle type
Fixed handles stay on the switch. Removable L handles and keys stop anyone else switching the vehicle back on. Marine rotary switches select between batteries.
Lockout
For site isolation procedures, choose a switch with an integrated lockout or one with a lockout bracket available, so a padlock can hold it off.
Common questions
Which cable does a battery master switch go in?
Most installations isolate the negative (earth) cable close to the battery. Follow the vehicle maker’s or site’s requirements and the switch datasheet.
What is a battery lockout kit?
A kit that adds a lockable isolation point to a vehicle so it can be made safe for servicing or parking, often with a jump-start point fitted.
